Because eastern red cedar is more acclimated to our local climate, it lasts longer than other types of cedar harvested from elsewhere in the country. Additionally, eastern red cedar wood fence panels are composed mostly of heartwood, which is more resistant to insect damage and decay than sapwood and treated wood. In fact, our Prestige Cedar Fencing is classified as a lifetime wood and guaranteed to last 20 years.
Eastern Red Cedar fence boards and posts from Chesterfield Fence & Deck Company are composed of primarily all heartwood as opposed to sapwood. The heartwood of Eastern Red Cedar is much harder than sapwood and, thus, holds its natural color longer. In addition, the natural oil in the heartwood minimizes mold, decay and insect infestation. The product that contains heartwood is far stronger than a builder grade wood such as PureWood or any other UV sealed wood. All posts used with the Eastern Cedar fence system are classified as lifetime wood because of their long-lasting quality. OZARK TIMBER COPPERWOOD FENCING

This type of wood fence is treated with a non-hazardous wood preservation blend of oil, copper, and naphthenic acid, which gives the material the strength needed to resist damage from fungi, insects, and long-term exposure to the elements. In fact, it includes a 25-year warranty against these types of damage. Copperwood fencing has a green color when it’s first installed, turning to a rich copper after a few weeks and then eventually to a light brown/silver gray as it ages.
